Make the Maison Fauve Ressac Sweatshirt
One Day Class | 9:30am–5:30pm
Ready to take your sweatshirt sewing to the next level?
Join us at The Makers Studio for a full day making the gorgeous Ressac Sweatshirt by Maison Fauve — an elevated sweatshirt packed with beautiful design details and clever construction techniques.
This is definitely not your ordinary sweatshirt.
If you’ve already made a sweatshirt or two and feel comfortable sewing with stretch fabrics, Ressac is the perfect next project to help you elevate your sewing knowledge and build on the skills you already have.
The distinctive darts at the neckline give Ressac its beautifully shaped finish, while the statement front pocket adds another interesting construction detail. If, like me, you prefer a cleaner look, I’ll also show you how to omit the pocket neatly, so you can choose the version that suits your style.
Throughout the day we’ll work through the pattern step by step, focusing not just on getting the garment sewn, but on understanding the techniques and achieving a really polished finish.
A full day of sewing
The class runs from 9:30am until 5:30pm, with a 30-minute break for lunch, giving us 7½ hours of dedicated sewing time.
Our aim is to get your Ressac as close to finished as possible during the day, although sewing speeds do vary and you may have a small amount to complete at home.
An elevated sweatshirt, brilliant techniques and a full day dedicated to progressing your sewing skills.

Tell me about the Ressac sweatshirt
The Ressac Sweatshirt by Maison Fauve is not your ordinary sweatshirt.
It has all the comfort of a classic sweatshirt, but with the sort of thoughtful design details that give it a much more elevated feel. The fit is neither overly loose nor too fitted, with a comfortable length and raglan sleeves that give it a slightly sporty, vintage feel.
What really makes Ressac special are the details.
At the front neckline you’ll find two small decorative darts — a signature Maison Fauve detail that adds shape and interest to what would otherwise be a simple sweatshirt neckline.
The front also features distinctive panelled sections finished with ribbing, which help structure the garment and give you the opportunity to play with contrast fabrics or different textures if you wish.
Then there’s the large statement front pocket. This isn’t simply a standard kangaroo pocket; it is incorporated into the overall design of the sweatshirt and is one of the features that gives Ressac its distinctive look. During our class, we’ll cover how to construct the pocket, but I’ll also show you how to leave it off completely if you prefer the cleaner, simpler version — which is how I personally like to make mine.
Ressac also includes ribbed finishing at the neckline, cuffs and hem, giving you lots of opportunity to develop your skills working accurately with sweatshirt fabrics and ribbing.
Maison Fauve rate Ressac as an intermediate-level pattern, with the key techniques including sewing the pocket, assembling the raglan sleeves, attaching the collar and cuffs, and working with knit fabrics. It is designed for sweatshirt fabrics such as French terry, jersey and sweater knits, together with ribbing.
That makes it a brilliant next-step project if you’ve already sewn a more straightforward sweatshirt and want to move on to something with more interesting construction and a much more polished, designer feel.

Who is this class for?
This is a next-level sweatshirt class for sewists who already have some experience making stretch garments.
You should be comfortable using a sewing machine and ideally have made at least one sweatshirt, jersey top or similar stretch garment before.
Rather than starting with the basics, we’ll be building on your existing skills and introducing you to more interesting construction techniques, helping you move towards a more confident and polished approach to sewing with knits.
