Have you always fancied learning to sew but never quite known where to start? Or perhaps you used to sew years ago and would love to pick it back up again. Maybe your sewing machine has been sitting patiently in the corner waiting for its moment!
Our Beginner’s Sewing Course at The Makers Studio is designed especially for complete beginners as well as anyone returning to sewing after a break. Over five relaxed and supportive sessions, we’ll guide you through the essentials of using a sewing machine while building your confidence step by step.
We start right at the beginning. You’ll learn how to thread a sewing machine, understand the basic functions, and get comfortable using it before moving on to your first projects. From there, each week introduces new techniques and skills, all in a friendly and sociable studio environment.
During the course you’ll complete a series of practical projects that help you build real sewing skills, including an envelope cushion cover ,tote bag, a lined zipped pouch. Each project has been chosen to introduce useful techniques you’ll use again and again as your sewing journey grows.
There’s no need to bring your own machine — The Makers Studio provides all sewing machines and studio equipment for you to use during the class. Just bring your enthusiasm and enjoy learning alongside other lovely people who are beginning their sewing journey too.
Once you’ve completed this course, a whole world of sewing opens up to you. With the foundations in place, you’ll be ready to join many of our other classes at The Makers Studio. Whether your dream is to sew your own clothes, create beautiful pieces for your home, or even start quilting, this course is the perfect place to begin.
